YORKTOWN, N.Y. – A Popeyes restaurant is being proposed for the Staples Plaza Shopping Center on Route 202.

The fast-food chain, which specializes in fried chicken, would occupy a newly constructed 2,350-square-foot building with a drive-thru. It would be located in the parking area opposite the existing Dunkin Donuts/New York Pizza Company building.

Previously, the Planning Board, when it approved the gas station for BJ's Wholesale Club, also approved plans for the additional building. The proposed Popeyes, though it is slightly smaller than the approved 2,500-square-foot building, is also longer than the approved square shape, said Robyn Steinberg, town planner.

The board, at its Aug. 13 meeting at town hall, will consider a proposal to amend the site plan.
