YORKTOWN, N.Y. – There were three reported car break-ins at two Yorktown locations yesterday, according to Lt. Jason DeIulio of the Yorktown Police Department.

One of the reported break-ins occurred at The Seed Day Care Center on Crompond Road and two at Teatown Lake Reservation.

DeIulio said the department suspects all of the break-ins are connected because of their similarities. In all three instances, the same window was smashed on the cars. Pocketbooks were also taken from all three cars, he said.

Chief Robert Noble said criminals often target cars that are likely be parked only for several minutes because the drivers may not take their valuables with them. That was the case in these three break-ins, he said. He warned residents to not leave valuables in their cars.

Typically in these type of break-ins, the suspects will quickly move onto neighboring communities, Noble said. Yorktown is working with other area police forces in solving the case.
