MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. – Before closing indefinitely, the staff at Wild Fusion in Mohegan Lake spent three days handing out hundreds of free prepped meals.

“Due to the pandemic, we must stay strong and help each other in need,” said Jack Xiao, owner of Wild Fusion.

Wild Fusion’s food giveaway ran from Wednesday, March 18, to Friday, March 20. Staff members cooked, bagged and handed out the meals to hundreds of customers, some of whom lined up about an hour before the scheduled 4 p.m. giveaways.

“During this experience our team has seen so many wonderful people,” Xiao said. “The emotion that we are all able to feel during this time only makes our community stronger with coming together.”

Shortly after the last giveaway ended, Xiao announced that Wild Fusion would be closing “until further notice,” with the restaurant also ceasing take-out and delivery operations.

“I want to humbly thank everyone who has supported us through the years,” Xiao said. “We really do live in a wonderful town. Lastly, I would like to thank our amazing staff for volunteering their time to help.”
