YORKTOWN, N.Y.-Yorktown’s baseball squad played a tough regular-season schedule last spring and it paid off big time come the sectionals.

The Huskers finished 9-13-1 and as the No. 16 seed lost at No. 8 Mahopac 8-2 in the Section 1 Class AA quarterfinals after beating No. 1, host North Rockland, 7-5, in the opening round and visiting No. 17 Ossining 6-1 in an outbracket game.

Yorktown was also very successful in league play, recording a 5-2-1 mark in League D for a second-place finish to Fox Lane.

After last year’s run to the quarterfinals, Yorktown expects to go farther than that with the talent, especially the pitching, it has going into this spring’s campaign.
