YORKTOWN, N.Y.-Yorktown’s boys basketball squad hung tough for three quarters with visiting Roy C. Ketcham in the Huskers’ opener but the Dutchess County squad pulled away in the final quarter to record a 53-43 victory on Dec. 1.
The Huskers garnered some momentum going into halftime as they cut a five-point Ketcham lead to one, 25-24.
They did this when senior captain Marc Spinelli, who registered a team-high 17 points, to go along with four rebounds and three steals, stole an Indian pass in the frontcourt and scored with a layup by teammate Tommy Weaver (4 points) pulling Yorktown to within one.
“It was big going into the half, it was a big momentum shift,” Spinelli said. “We were able to cut their lead down to one at halftime so that was huge momentum-wise.”
