YORKTOWN, N.Y. - The Yorktown Democratic Committee endorsed its slate of local candidates on Monday night.

The committee endorsed Ilan Gilbert for supervisor, incumbent Councilman Vishnu Patel, Alice Roker for council and Aviah Cohen Pierson for town justice. No candidate was endorsed for highway superintendent.

Gilbert, a former town justice, ran for council two years ago, losing by nine votes.

Patel, a retired IBM scientist, was first elected to the town board in 2009. Roker served as town clerk from 1990 to 2015. For several months in 2007, she also served as interim town supervisor.

Cohen Pierson is a senior court attorney with the New York State Unified Court System, according to her LinkedIn page. She is a lifelong resident of Yorktown and is the daughter of former town justice Jeff Cohen.

The Yorktown Republican Town Committee endorsed its candidates last month: Supervisor Michael Grace, Councilman Gregory Bernard, Rob Puff for council, Town Justice Sal Lagonia and Highway Superintendent Dave Paganelli.
