YORKTOWN, N.Y. – What is one sure way of testing maple syrup during “Maple Weekend”? Have a pancake breakfast and smother those pancakes in local maple syrup. Hilltop Hanover Farm and White Oak Farm of Yorktown Heights—just a mile apart—have combined their operations and are doing just that.
Hilltop Hanover Farm will be the site for the pancake breakfasts while White Oak Farm opens its sugarhouse to free tours on Saturday, March 18; Sunday; March 19; Saturday, March 25; and Sunday, March 26. Hilltop Hanover Farm and White Oak Farm will be celebrating “Maple Weekends” sponsored by the New York State Maple Producers Association.
Start your day at Hilltop Hanover Farm by enjoying breakfast during one of three pre-arranged times: 9, 10 and 11 a.m. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 5-12, and free for those under 5. You must pre-register for the breakfast at Hilltop Hanover Farm’s website: hilltophanoverfarm.org.
After a hearty breakfast—highlighted by White Oak’s maple syrup—participants will travel only one mile to White Oak Farm. There a free demonstration of how maple syrup is produced will be presented throughout the day.
