YORKTOWN, N.Y. - On Wednesday, Sept. 14, the Yorktown High School varsity cheerleading squad, under the guidance of head coach Angela Battista, participated in the inaugural “A Big Cheer for Yorktown Day.”

The cheerleaders stood outside local stores and performed good deeds for community members. They gave out flowers, carried grocery bags, walked community members to their cars with an umbrella in the rain, or simply said, “Have a nice day.”

Senior captain Nicole McKinlay was very proud of her team, saying, “The town of Yorktown is a great community with tremendous support. It was so great today for our team to just say ‘thank you’ to community members. We wanted to let people know we appreciate them living in Yorktown.”
