YORKTOWN, N.Y.-Dr. Ron Hattar, superintendent of the Yorktown Central School District, invited students of all ages to participate in a logo design contest for ESTEAM, which promotes an empathy-based approach to STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, arts and math).

With more than 1,500 votes tallied, the winner of the contest was Ryan Serafin, a junior at Yorktown High School. Hattar said he already is in the process of creating shirts with the logo.

All of the students who participated in the contest were invited to a party in Hattar’s office, where hot chocolate and cookies were served and all of the submissions were displayed.
