YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Five members of the Yorktown Heights Engine Company Junior Corps graduated from the Westchester County Volunteer Fire Academy on July 13.

Blake T. Fahey, Giuseppe Passalacqua, Clancy J. Schwartz, Sean T. Nikisher and Ryan M. Collins received their New York State Firefighter 1 Certification, demonstrating the skills mandated by the state Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC).

Since the Junior Corps program was founded in 2003, 115 young adults have participated. Many have moved on to further their careers in emergency services. Many have also stayed in the area, remaining active members, and even becoming chief officers.
