YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Frank Fonte, a 53-year-old Yorktown resident, was killed late Sunday afternoon in a house fire on Baldwin Road, according to the Yorktown Police Department.
Around 4:51 p.m., police received a call from a Baldwin Road resident who said his neighbor's house was on fire. The house was fully engulfed in flames by the time the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department arrived.
Firefighters located the unconscious man and removed him from the house, but he was already dead, police said. There were no other occupants.
Assisting in the response were fire departments from Croton, Bedford Hills, Millwood, Mohegan Lake, Ossining, and Somers. The Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Somers Ambulance Corps, and Yorktown Paramedics also responded.
Once the fire was under control, the house was investigated by the Westchester County Fire Cause and Origin Team, Yorktown firefighters and Yorktown police detectives.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but the county will continue to investigate.
