YORKTOWN, N.Y. – A 12-year-old student accused of making a bomb threat was arrested yesterday morning, according to the Yorktown Police Department.
Around 7:36 a.m. Tuesday, a Mildred E. Strang Middle School student told School Resource Officer Brian Mundy about a text message she received from an unknown number making a “non-specific bomb threat,” according to police.
Additional Yorktown police officers were called to the school and the officers determined the threat was “unsubstantiated.” The officers identified a 12-year-old boy as the person who sent the text, according to police.
The student was charged with juvenile delinquency and issued an appearance ticket. Had he been charged as an adult, the charge would have been second-degree falsely reporting an incident, an E felony. His court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, April 25.
