MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. – An officer with the Yorktown Police Department was involved in a two-car crash Saturday morning on Strawberry Road while on duty, said Police Chief Robert Noble.
Noble declined to comment about the specifics of the crash because, he said, it is still under investigation. He said Police Officer Michael Kahn was injured in the crash, but released from an area hospital several hours later.
On Facebook, the department thanked all the first responders who “went above and beyond” Saturday morning: Firefighters and EMS from the Mohegan Lake Fire Department, Empress Emergency Medical Services, the Westchester County Police Department, and the New York State Police Department.
“What a response [Officer Kahn] received from the neighborhood residents and good folks passing by who were first on the scene and jumped right in to help out the officer,” the department wrote. “Truly, truly appreciated.”
The driver of the other car was uninjured, according to the police department.
