Editor's Note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly called Barrett a former middle school principal. He was actually a former middle school assistant principal. We regret the error.
YORKTOWN, N,Y. - Robert Barrett has been appointed the new athletic director of Yorktown Central School District.
He was unanimously appointed the position at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, April 3. He will officially take over for retiring Athletic Director Fio Nardone in July.
“Mr. Barrett has been described as a man with a great work ethic and is as a visionary, detailed and thorough leader," said Schools Superintendent Dr. Ralph Napolitano in a press release. "Those who have worked with him described him as not only a hard-worker, but as a go-getter and innovator who is level headed, intelligent and with a broad perspective on school matters. In sum, he is a genuine advocate for students who treats everyone respectfully and with dignity. We look forward to welcoming him to the Yorktown family and Husker team.”
Barrett previously worked in the Port Chester school district for 15 years as an elementary school teacher, physical education teacher, athletic coordinator, middle school assistant principal and athletic director.
