YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Two new scoreboards, purchased with funds from a $35,000 grant secured by state Sen. Terrence Murphy, have been installed at Yorktown High School’s baseball and softball fields.
“As a native of Yorktown who graduated from this school, I am proud to see our Huskers get modern, eye-catching scoreboards that will help attract more fans,” Murphy said in a press release.
Murphy visited the fields last week with Athletic Director Fio Nardone and Superintendent Dr. Ralph Napolitano, who are both retiring after long tenures with the school the district. The senator presented them with proclamations in honor of their careers.
“I would also like to congratulate and thank Dr. Napolitano and Coach Nardone for their many contributions to the school district,” Murphy said. “Dr. Napolitano has been an outstanding leader who cares deeply for the welfare and education of his students. Fio Nardone is more than a coach; he is a legend. He has built an impressive sports program and instilled a sense of sportsmanship and integrity in his players. Both men will be sorely missed."
