YORKYOWN, N.Y.-Sophomore Joe Rohle is a manager for the Yorktown football squad that made it to the state Class A title game, which was played in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
He never imagined that he would be going back to Syracuse, this time at the OnCenter, for the state championships in bowling. But that’s what he is going to do on March 10 and 11.
“I never thought that I would be able to make it back to Syracuse to bowl in states because of the competition that was in Section 1,” said Rohle, who is a third-year varsity bowler. “It means a lot to me and even more to my school. We have had a lot of success in sports so far this year from boys soccer going to the regional finals and football making it to the Carrier Dome. It is just great to add bowling into that success.”
Rohle earned his trip to Syracuse when he bowled a 1,431 series, tops of any bowler, at the Section 1 Championships at Fishkill Bowl on Feb. 13.
