YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Despite the dreary weather, hundreds of people covered just about every square inch of Yorktown on Saturday, April 22, as the town of Yorktown held another successful Battle of Yorktown event.

According to Refuse and Recycling Coordinator Kim Angliss-Gage, 546 people between 102 groups were out last weekend picking up the trash covering the town's roadsides, parks and parking lots. Tonnage has not yet been calculated. In previous years, volunteers have collected more than 20,000 pounds of trash in a single day.
