YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Stephen Kopercinski and Alexander Borbas, both of Boy Scouts of America Troop 165, have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. To earn the rank, both completed Eagle Scout Service Projects to benefit the community.

Kopercinski’s project took place on the trails behind Hilltop Hanover Farm. The project was to help the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference maintain their trails. He created check dams and water bars on the trail to slow down erosion and prevent further damage to the trail.

“More than five dams were created and other types of trail renovations took place to make the trail safer to the people using the trail,” Kopercinski said.

For Borbas’ project, he constructed a Gaga pit for the Evergreen Homeowner’s Association neighborhood park. To fund the project, Borbas ran a pasta dinner fundraiser. The project totaled more than 300 hours of work.
