Searching for Common Ground: Christian Perspectives on Gun Violence

Open to the community, this 90-minute event offers a respectful treatment of ‘gun control’ and ‘gun rights’ perspectives led by Rev. Donald Gaffney, a Sandy Hook alumnus and gun owner. After his presentation, he will engage the audience in a guided, active discussion of the topic from multiple diverse points of view. Coffee and snacks will be served afterwards, during which time Rev. Gaffney will sign copies of his book entitled “Common Ground: Talking About Gun Violence in America.” You can bring your own copy, or purchase one at the event.

“Common Ground …” presents information from across the spectrum of resources, and was written for those who seek a more balanced approach than that provided by many other books on the subject.

Please join us at First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown, on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 7pm for this presentation and discussion.

On Stage: The Champagne of Jukebox Musicals

“An American in Paris,” on stage at Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford (N.Y.) through Nov. 24, has the kind of purebred pedigree that would make a French poodle proud. (Ticket info: 914-592-2222; BroadwayTheatre.com).

This show’s resplendent roots reach back nearly a century to a jazz-infused symphony by George Gershwin that was the basis for a 1951 MGM movie musical ...

November 7, 2019

Last week, on Oct. 29, the New York State Assembly’s Committee on Health opened up the floor to discuss a bill that would bar children 12-and-under from playing tackle football.

The result, as expected, was hundreds of bare-bones articles slapped together in 10 minutes containing nothing but a few paragraphs and a headline (something like: “New York Considers Banning Tackle ...
