Colin Smith won the seat for county legislator in District 1, turning a red seat blue.
Colin declared victory over Republican Frank Catalina with 4,490 to 3,998 votes at midnight on Nov. 5, according to unofficial election results, taking helm of the district, which includes Buchanan and parts of Cortlandt, Peekskill and Yorktown.
In a Facebook post, Smith said he was "honored and humbled by the trust the people of Northern Westchester have shown in me."
"I'm committed to representing everyone in this district, regardless of party, over the next two years." Smith said. "I especially want to thank all of my friends in organized labor for their incredible support. My top priorities as county legislator will be fighting for working men and women, and to make our area more affordable for working families and seniors. Together, we're going to build a better Westchester."
District 1 County Legislator John Testa announced earlier this year that he wouldn't be seeking re-election.
