YORKTOWN, N.Y. – The Imperato family—Joe (father), Kathy (mother), Katey and Tommy—has tried to make the best of a bad situation by spending more quality time together. Here is their quarantine story, in Kathy’s own words:
“For the duration of the ‘shut down,’ we have been really busy at home doing work during the week and playing games and watching movies on the weekends. Our favorite movie so far has been ‘The Freedom Writers.’
Joe has been working from home since March 11. I started working as an interim eighth-grade social studies teacher for a teacher who was out on paternity leave right when the shutdown began, so I have been trying to learn how to do the remote teaching along with all the teachers.
The kids are very busy with their schoolwork. The teachers at Mildred E. Strang Middle School have been great about keeping their lessons going.
We are sad for the circumstances, but we are getting to spend some quality family time together. We see the neighbors from a distance and see lots of people out walking around the neighborhood. Being able to sleep a little later in the mornings has been a silver lining through all this. We are very grateful to be healthy, too!”
