Yorktown100 is a new, all-volunteer community-based group that seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2040. Yorktown100, inspired by Croton100,
will strive for a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 5% per year from 2020 to 2040 throughout the Yorktown community.
Concerns of climate change due to increases in greenhouse gas emissions is a global concern. On a local level, Yorktown100 will help residents examine their own household carbon footprint and then help choose a lifestyle with zero or lower emissions. The target is to reduce an individual’s greenhouse emission by paying attention to energy use, traveling, eating, consumption habits, household appliances and financial savings,
