They say everyone loves a parade, so to do something special for this year’s seniors, The Harvey School in Katonah celebrated the graduation June 4 of the 67 members of the Class of 2020 with a commencement car parade on campus.

Responding to ideas from leaders of the senior class, the school hosted a parade of cars, each decorated in colorful ways and filled with a graduate and their immediate family members who followed an on-campus route decorated with balloons and signs of congratulations and lined along the way with faculty and staff well-wishers.

On a sunny morning with mild temperatures, the cars made their way along the parade route to the circular driveway in front of Sylvan Hall, the main building on campus, for a curbside presentation of diplomas and awards.

The Class of 2020 may have missed out on having an indoor commencement ceremony with all the traditional pomp and circumstance, but all the smiles, shouts of joys, and honking of horns were proof enough that the graduates felt their Class of 2020 Commencement Day was something very special.
