SHRUB OAK, N.Y. - Lakeland School District voters have elected Michael Daly, Angela Conti, Karen Pressman and Robert Mayes to the school board, according to results provided by Communications Director James Van Develde.


  • Michael Daly (incumbent)—726 votes
  • Angela Conti—718 votes
  • Karen Pressman (incumbent)—708 votes
  • Robert Mayes—696 votes
  • Stephen Reid—413 votes

As the fourth highest vote-getter, Mayes will fill the unexpired term of Elizabeth Kogler, who resigned earlier in the school year. Keri Fiore was appointed to fill the seat in November, but did not run for re-election. Mayes will be sworn-in at Thursday's school board meeting. His term expires June 30, 2019.

Daly, Conti and Pressman all won three-year terms that end in 2021.

Voters also approved a $166.6 million spending plan that has a tax rate increase of 2.4 percent for Yorktown residents. The budget also includes a tax levy increase of 0.95 percent, about half of the allowable increase under the state-imposed cap.

Included in the budget are five additional school resource officers, which would allow Lakeland to have an armed police officer at all eight of its schools. There are currently school resource officers at the high schools and middle school.

The district also asked voters to approve a $1.425 million bond to purchase seven large school buses; five 30-seat school buses; three 20-seat school buses; two wheelchair vans; and two Suburbans.
