YORKTOWN, N.Y. – The Home Depot Foundation has given a district grant to My Brother Vinny, a non-profit organization that helps provide food and home furnishings to previously homeless U.S. veterans. Last month, the Home Depot Foundation helped My Brother Vinny renovate the storage area where its donations and furniture are stored in Yorktown.
“This renovation has been a dream for so very long, but we could never afford to do something like this, nor take the time away from our services,” the organization’s founder, Paula Miritello, wrote on Facebook.
More than 30 volunteers showed up to renovate nearly all of My Brother Vinny’s storage units at Yorktown Self Storage. New floors and shelves were installed in the units before putting the rest of the furniture in.
Miritello said she was grateful for all the help she received.
“Each and everyone that arrived today made this happen,” she wrote on Facebook. “My heart is filled with true joy and gratitude!”
Since 2013, My Brother Vinny has helped more than 840 veterans, and has shown no signs of slowing down.
