YORKTOWN, N.Y. – All supermarkets, grocery stores, convenience stores and warehouse clubs in the of Yorktown must set aside at least 30 minutes per day for populations most vulnerable to the coronavirus, Yorktown Supervisor Matt Slater ordered Monday.
The special shopping times for senior citizens and people with respiratory ailments or compromised immune systems must be visibly posted at the businesses.
Slater also ordered that all town playgrounds, ball fields and swimming pools be closed. Town-owned passive recreation areas such as trails will remain open.
“Just as our state and national leaders are taking aggressive measures to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, we must do the same locally,” Slater said in a press release. “We are committed to working with our local businesses to protect the welfare of our most vulnerable residents.”
