May 9, 2022

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Yorktown celebrated Arbor Day on April 29 with a ceremony near Town Hall.

EV Charging Stations Approved for Retail Centers in Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Technology is evolving quickly, and Yorktown is trying to keep up.

Last week, the Town Board voted to allow ad-supported electric vehicle charging stations at retail centers.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of the 2022-23 NYS Budget

May 18, 2022

After another marathon budget week in Albany, the Assembly, Senate, and Gov. Hochul finally came to an agreement and finished the state’s 2022-23 budget. Due at midnight on April 1, the complete budget was not passed until approximately 9:30 a.m. on April 9. Any private-sector job or business loses when it fails to meet basic deadlines, but not for the leaders of our state.

Sadly, but ...

Critics Stand in the Way of Progress

May 8, 2022

It’s always easy to find people opposed to change. They’ll throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. This irresponsible behavior is without regard for people that have built solid reputations and track records.

In the case of Unicorn Contracting Corp., and their plans for Underhill Farm in Yorktown, a few outspoken residents, opposed to any change, have made false and ...

A Letter to My Future Great-Grandchild

In “Cyrano,” a touching movie that seemed to go largely unnoticed this year, there is a delicate and moving song, “Wherever I Fall.” The backdrop is simple — three soldiers, about to go on a suicidal mission, write farewell letters to their loved ones. The first soldier writes to his wife and children, the second to his girlfriend, and the third to his dad. All three ...

Tales of Ties and Tails

That headline-grabbing, delinquent supply chain has now wormed its wayward way into graduation ceremonies, of all things. In some cases, cases of caps and gowns and hoods (those sash-ish affairs that denote academic degree) are backlogged in production or in transit, leaving schools to scramble to ensure their alumni-in-waiting are decorously adorned, as tradition dictates.

Shortages of sashes ...
