Athlete Spotlight: Omar Tabanjeh

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Yorktown senior captain Omar Tabanjeh, who was in his first year competing in winter track but has competed in spring track all during high school, took first place at the Section 1 Class A championships at the Armory in New York City, clearing 6 feet. Tabanjeh was also a kicker for the Yorktown football team this past fall.

Photos: Runners Bundle up for ‘Freezer 5 Miler’ at FDR Park

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Despite the dreary winter weather, dozens of runners participated in a 5-mile race at FDR Park in Yorktown on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The Freezer 5 Miler was hosted by the Taconic Road Runners, which will return to the Crompond Road state park on Sunday, March 17, for two St. Patrick’s Day races (a 2-mile race and a 10K race).

Basketball Roundup: Lakeland Boys and Girls Win Out-Bracket

Led by Augie Karaqi (22 points), Jack Kruse (21 points) and Rob Nardelli (16 points), No. 15 Lakeland won its Section 1 Class A Boys Basketball Tournament out-bracket contest with a 75-64 victory against visiting No. 18 Lincoln on Feb. 16.
