HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. - Yorktown girls soccer started their season with an overtime loss at John Jay (East Fishkill) on Saturday, Aug. 31.

Yorktown's Julianna Vano scored the first goal of the match, with the assist coming from Caitlin Ward.

John Jay's Ava Viebrock knotted it up, 1-1, sending the game to overtime. Viebrock scored her second goal, the game-winner, with 1:47 left in overtime.

Erisa Krasniqi finished with 9 saves for Yorktown. 

"It was a good. even game," said Rich Armstrong, Yorktown's coach. "Each team combined nicely at times and had opportunities. Defensively, we gave a little too much room and John Jay (East Fishkill) was able to capitalize."

The Huskers will host a four-team tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Also competing are Lakeland, Roy C. Ketcham and Arlington.

Yorktown will play Lakeland at 6 p.m. The championship and consolation games will be played Saturday, Sept. 7.
