"LIVITY"

The racial tension in America is manufactured to divide us, making citizens believe their brother of a different color is their enemy. Anyone who has analyzed the social situation in America without the influence of the media will realize that notion of ‘white privilege’ is a myth. White privilege does exist in America, but only for the privileged whites. A large number of white Americans are uneducated, unemployed or underemployed, lack adequate health care, and are crippled by generational hopelessness. African ...

Daily Bread

Genesis 3:8-10 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” Anyone remember as a child playing Hide and Seek?  As I recall, first we would get a short time to hide, so we’d do the best we ...

Most of you that know me, are familiar with my hunger to uncover historical facts; as well as somethings that our hidden right out in the open.  While on one of my journeys of mining for information; I discovered an interesting anecdote to bring to you, in celebration of “Black History Month”.  This interesting little tidbit should tickle your “taste buds”. Melinda's Garden

Liven up your holiday décor with lights, a bit of glitz and some colorful blossoms this season. Start by gathering greenery from your landscape. Use needled evergreens like pines and firs, broadleaf evergreens like boxwood, holly and evergreen magnolia as well as junipers and arborvitaes to create wreaths, swags, centerpieces and garland. And don’t forget to include cones, holly berries, crabapples and the bluish-colored fruit of junipers. Be selective as you prune your trees and shrubs when collecting these materials.

On Point

Does your closet hold one or more used instruments?  If so, maybe it is time to donate them to the North Plainfield Fine Arts Department!  The Education Foundation is collecting used "dormant" instruments in order to assist the musical program in our schools.  Funds for the Arts are becoming scarse and an instrument in the hands of a child can produce amazing results! To donate an instrument contact Mr. Tom Mazur in the Fine Arts Department at 908-769-6000 or Robert Goellner at 908-510-5458.

Shameless Plug

(SHAMELESS PLUG #43) I have been working with insurance for over 10 years, and always talk to my clients about the peace of mind aspect that life insurance can afford.  Let’s face it, already losing your spouse is tragic enough, but compound this with the fact that life just does not stop, adds extra pressure to the situation.  From bills to the children’s schooling, mixed with the fact that there is not an extra hand to help, all can contribute to a cornucopia of issues.  Sometimes, those issues lead to ...

The Power of Spirit

African women in general need to know that it's OK for them to be the way they are - to see the way they are as a strength, and to be liberated from fear and from silence. --Wangari Maathai, Nobel Prize winner  Oh my God! As women, Ms. Maathai has touched our very souls. As noted earlier, she is the recipient of the Nobel Prize for her work in restoring and maintaining the environment in Africa. My life has been of giving, one of carrying, and one of bearing. If my mental illness is not a result of family genetics, it is ...
